The Basic Error
By GEORGIE STARBUCK GALBRAITH
IT wasn’t the fault of the tree and the roseate fruit
That man was harnessed to drag the burden of grief.
Nor was it the weakness of poor young gullible Eve
That made the tenancy in Eden so brief.
The blame was not on the tempting and treacherous snake,
Though generations have cursed his scales and hissed him.
The basic error lay in man’s design,
Which included glands, a brain, and a nervous system.
