The Houston Police Department said no injuries or evidence of gunfire were found at Ben Taub Hospital amid reports of an active shooter Tuesday at the medical facility. Chief Art Acevedo told reporters that police and SWAT team members conducted two full searches of the hospital in response to reports of gunfire at approximately 2 p.m. CT, adding: “If there was a threat, that threat is not present here now.” Acevedo said authorities would soon return control of the hospital to its staff, but that SWAT team members would maintain a presence on every floor as a “precautionary measure.”
Searches at Ben Taub completed, situation is stable and normal hospital operations resuming. Thank you all for your patience.
