(Frederic Waldman conducting Musica Aeterna Orchestra and Chorus; Decca DL-79433). A sturdy production by Waldman and four capable soloists (Brooks, Chookasian, Shirley, Giaiotti) still doesn’t turn this into one of Beethoven’s major works.
