John Williams Plays Two Guitar Concertos

(Columbia MS-7063). The concertos are those by Joaquin Rodrigo and Stephen Dodgson, and both are handled elegantly by Williams. The Rodrigo “Fantasia para un gentilhombre” is, of course, wellk nown by now, but the concerto by the London-born Dodgson represents a first recording, It is skilled and melodic, but not particularly characteristic of the guitar. Maybe it takes a Spaniard.
