Atlantic "Firsts"

For fifteen years the ATLANTIC has held out a special incentive to short story writers. In January, 1946, we began to publish what we called Atlantic “Firsts” —short stories by unestablished writers making their first appearance in our pages. We are happy to announce the following prize winneis for 1960:

First prize of $750 awarded to JAMES HURSTfor “The Scarlet Ibis” in the July issue

Second prize of $250 awarded to JACK LUDWIGfor “Requiem for Bibul” in the September issue
