Of Advice (Alittle) Helpful

by HELEN BEVINGTON

be of love (a little)
More careful Than of everything
— e. e. Cummings

BE of love (a little)
Artful,
Of the heaving breast.
The cartful
Of endorsing sighs,
The heart full,
Provident (a little)
Sparefull
Of the puffery, yet
Careful
Not to be of love
Too careful,
Or too coy (a little)
Lust ful,
And more trustful than
Distrustful —
As the brimming cup
Is just full,
Be of love oh more
Than needful
Amorous, of course, and
Deedful.
But, as we were saying,
(Heedful).
