FINLEY PETER DUNNEwas an American political satirist in the great tradition, and the comments of his famous bartender, Mr. Dooley, were laughed at and quoted the nation over. Shortly before his death in 1936, Mr. Dunne was persuaded by his son Philip to write down some leisurely reminiscences. The project was never finished, but of the chapters he did complete, which have now been incorporated in a volume of memoirs by his son, MR.
