As in, for instance, 'Since you have driven me mad about going to Paris, I davka booked us into a hotel in Venice!' More nobly and famously, the spirit of Masada -- suicide rather than surrender to the Romans -- was in a big way davka. Anyhow, maybe someone can provide a snappy and ringing English equivalent."
