Refugees relocated: Greece has transferred 30 refugees from Syria and Iraq to Luxembourg as part of the EU’s plan to relocate 160,000 people across the bloc. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras called it a “drop in the ocean.”
A plane crashes: The Soviet-built Antonov cargo aircraft went down shortly after takeoff from Juba airport in South Sudan. At least 25 people are dead.
Officer’s death a suicide: Lieutenant Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, the Fox Lake, Illinois, officer whose shooting this summer resulted in a massive manhunt took his own life after committing criminal acts, authorities said at a news conference. Gliniewicz had told dispatchers he was pursuing three suspicious men.
