Under Cover for Wells Fargo: The Unvarnished Recollections of Fred Dodge
Short Reviews :
edited by . Houghton Mifflin, $6.95. Manuscript found in an old trunk, describing the career of a natural-horn snoop and confidence man who, being also honest, turned detective and hunted crooks for Wells Fargo. He was a friend of the Karp boys, and his description of any quid evening in Tombstone makes TV Westerns look demure. As a writer, Dodge contrived miracles ol understatement and original grammat, but he put down a fine piece of frontier history. Miss Lake’s notes arc informative and slyly amusing.
