Piccadilly Circus

FROM LONDON BY R. P. LISTER
The English need a center for their capital city,
And this is the place they lit on:
It is neither beautiful, monumental, dignified, nor pretty,
But there are some steps to sit on,
And, above,
An aluminium statue of the God of Erotic Love,
Of which, being Puritans from the back of beyond,
They are inordinately fond.
My God;
They are odd.
