Additional Biographical Notes

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for National Economy U KYAW NYEIN is a Burman, born at Pyinmana in 1915. As, a Rangoon University undergraduate, he was active in the students strike of 1936. He was an organizer of the Burma Revolutionary Party, served in Dr. Ba Maw’s Government under the Japanese, and helped negotiate independence in London in 1947. He is one of the leaders of Burma’s Socialist Party.

U WIN PE, a Burman, was born in Rangoon in 1928. After graduation from Rangoon University, he joined the Burma Civil Service and became a District Officer. He is now on leave from his post as Assistant Secretary, Ministry of National Planning, for a year at Harvard.
