THE authors expound the principle and method of the ‘public-opinion poll,’ showing how to work the poll, how it works, and its success in providing a basis on which to lay bets. They also reply to criticisms and glorify the poll as an aid to the proper functioning of ‘democracy.’ Those interested in these matters will probably find everything they want in this volume, and hence the authors may have credit for producing the final book on their subject; at least, we see no need for anyone ever to produce another.
