MR. HICKS makes an able well-written study of the literary lights which have shone upon England’s path to collectivism since the middle of the nineteenth century. It is a Tendenzschrift, but Mr. Hicks’s Marxism, coming in as it does the day after the fair, will not hurt anybody, and the book has enough solid literary merit to give profit and pleasure to a reader.
