FAT legs, thin legs,
Bowing-out-and-in legs—
All along the Avenue,
Silk, silk, silk.

Pale legs, dark legs,
Out-for-any-lark legs,
Weaving down the Avenue
A restless braid of silk.

Here come my own legs,
Walking-all-alone legs—
Straight along the Avenue.
Not at all of silk.

Cotton legs, black legs,
Don’t-give-a-crack legs —
Rebels of the Avenue,
Scoffers at the silk!
