Join The Atlantic Across America tour in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 15, 2026, for an evening of timely discussions focusing on the importance of local journalism, Nebraska’s civic innovations, and the future of public life in the heartland.The Atlantic’s editor in chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, will be joined by Atlantic staff writers Yvonne Wingett Sanchez and Graeme Wood and local Nebraska journalists for a conversation drawing on their coverage of the issues shaping middle America. Then, Flatwater Free Press Executive Director Matt Wynn joins Goldberg to explore the vital role of local journalism in strengthening communities and democracy. The evening will also feature a one-on-one conversation with Mayor John Ewing on leadership, civic responsibility, and Omaha’s path forward at a pivotal moment for cities across America.
